For most homes, the best weighing machine is a digital body scale that reads in 100 g steps and stands on a hard, level floor. Omace's Venus digital scales weigh up to 180 kg in 100 g steps and cost ₹549 (October 2026). A smart scale suits people who will follow body fat trends, and a clinic or shop needs a scale verified under the Legal Metrology Act.
What to check before you buy a weight machine
Six details decide whether a home scale gives numbers you can trust. Check each one on the product page before you order.
- Step size. A digital scale that reads in 100 g steps shows small week-to-week changes. An analog dial marked every 500 g hides anything smaller than half a kilo.
- Capacity. Choose a capacity above the heaviest person in the house. Omace's digital body scales are rated for 180 kg, and its analog dial scale for 130 kg.
- Platform. Tempered glass wipes clean in seconds. The Venus EPS-1199 has a 26 x 26 cm top in 4 mm tempered glass, and the Venus EPS-379 gives larger feet a 30 x 30 cm platform. If you would rather avoid glass, the Venus EPS-9999 is non-breakable ABS plastic and the Venus EPS-284 (M) has a metal body.
- Display. A backlit LCD stays readable in a dim bathroom. The EPS-1199 shows your weight on a 73 x 28 mm backlit screen.
- Power. The EPS-1199 runs on 2 AAA batteries, switches on when you step on and turns itself off. A dial scale needs no battery at all.
- Body scale or kitchen scale. A body scale reads 100 g steps up to 180 kg. A kitchen scale such as the Hoffen KS-601 reads 1 g steps up to 5 kg, so a home that weighs food as well needs both.
You can compare these figures model by model across Omace's body weight machines, from plain glass scales to metal, wooden and plastic ones.
Digital, analog or smart: compare the types
Home scales come in four kinds. Each row is an Omace model sold today, so every figure is a product specification.
| Type | Omace example | What it shows | Capacity | Price (October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Digital | Venus EPS-1199 | Weight in 100 g steps on a backlit LCD | 180 kg | ₹549 |
| Analog dial | Venus BS-9701 | Weight on a dial marked every 500 g, no battery | 130 kg | ₹799 |
| Smart, app estimates | Hoffen HO-9 | Weight on the scale, 25+ body values estimated in the app | 180 kg | ₹699 |
| Smart, with electrodes | Hoffen HO-36 | 14 body measurements read through 4 metal electrodes | 180 kg | ₹1,499 |
| Smart, with heart rate | Hoffen HO-45 | 16 body measurements, including heart rate | 180 kg | ₹2,499 |
A digital scale is the better buy for most families because 100 g steps show changes a dial cannot. The Venus BS-9701 analog weighing scale still makes sense when you want a scale that never needs a battery. The full side-by-side is in analog vs digital weighing machine.
Do you need a smart scale with body fat?
You need a smart scale only if you will follow body fat or muscle trends. For weight and BMI, a plain digital scale is enough. The World Health Organization calculates BMI as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared, so an exact weight and your height give an exact BMI.
Omace's smart scales connect to a free phone app by Bluetooth and work in two ways. The Hoffen HO-9 and Venus EPS-6399 App have no metal pads, so their apps estimate body values from your weight, height, age and gender. The Hoffen HO-18 App, HO-19, HO-36 and HO-45 have 4 metal electrodes and read body values through bare feet, which is how a smart scale measures body fat.
Both kinds give estimates, not clinical results. A 2026 systematic review of bioelectrical impedance in healthy adults compared these readings with a laboratory four-compartment method. Individual body fat results differed widely, with limits of agreement typically spanning 15 to 20 percentage points. Use a smart scale to follow your own trend from week to week, not as a medical test. Don't use the body fat function if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, or if you are pregnant; weighing yourself is fine.
If you want heart rate too, the Hoffen HO-45 smart body composition scale shows weight, body fat, BMI and heart rate on its colour screen. The FitDays app keeps all 16 of its values with charts.
Which weight machine fits your home and budget
- Weight only, lowest price: the Venus EPS-281 costs ₹520, and the Venus EPS-1199 weight machine for home costs ₹549 in white, rose gold or silver.
- Larger feet or a steadier stance: the Venus EPS-379 has a 30 x 30 cm platform for ₹670. The Hoffen HO-29 adds a contoured 30 x 30 cm top in 6 mm glass for ₹899.
- No glass: the Venus EPS-284 (M) metal body scale costs ₹790 and the EPS-9999 non-breakable plastic scale costs ₹799.
- No batteries: the Venus BS-9701 dial scale costs ₹799.
- Weighing a baby on your own scale: the Venus EPS-05 mother and child weighing scale costs ₹699, and the steel-bodied EPS-09 (M) costs ₹990. The mother weighs herself, steps off, picks up the baby and steps on again. The scale then shows the baby's weight on its own, so you need no separate baby scale.
- App tracking: the Hoffen HO-9 costs ₹699, and the HO-45 with heart rate costs ₹2,499.

Scales for clinics, gyms and shops
A scale used to sell goods or to make a health decision must be verified before use. Section 24 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 requires verification of any weight or measure used in a transaction or for protection. The Act defines protection as using a reading to decide a step that safeguards the well-being of a person or an animal.
State Legal Metrology officers carry out this verification with standard weights, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs. A clinic or hospital that plans treatment from weight readings should therefore keep a verified scale and its certificate. Omace can supply clinic scales such as the Venus EPS-2003 clinical weighing scale stamped on request; the buyer pays the state's verification fee. Shops that sell by weight follow the same rule, and the guide to the best weighing scale for small business covers shop scales, stamping and re-verification.
For gyms and health camps, Omace's Ultrasonic height and weight machine measures height and weight together up to 200 kg and costs ₹16,999 (October 2026).
How to get the same reading every time
NHS England advises weighing yourself at the same time of day, preferably in the morning, at regular weekly to monthly intervals. Its leaflet also asks for a firm, level floor, the same scales in the same place, and little or similar clothing each time.
- Place the scale on tiles or stone, not on a carpet or mat.
- If you have moved it, tap the platform once and wait for 0.0.
- Step on gently with both feet in the middle and stand still until the weight locks.
- Step off. The scale switches itself off.

Use the scale between 10 °C and 40 °C, and never stand on its edge. If a reading still seems off, check it with a known weight as shown in how to calibrate a bathroom scale.
