100 kg or 150 kg: which heavy duty spring balance?
The 100 kg model reads every kilo. The 150 kg model reads in 2.5 kg steps, so pick it only when your loads go past 100 kg.
- Weighing sacks of 25 to 90 kg, vegetables, fish or kirana stock? The 100 kg model shows the exact kilo.
- Weighing loads over 100 kg, like full cotton bags, scrap bundles or two sacks at once? Take the 150 kg model.
This 100 kg model reads in 1 kg steps and is best for Grain sacks, vegetables, fish, kirana stock.
Why people carry a pocket balance
- It weighs about 500 g and is narrow enough to go in a bag or under a scooter seat, so you can weigh at the farm, the mandi or a customer's shop.
- There is no battery, charger or screen. It works in rain, dust and power cuts.
- The kilo numbers are printed on both sides of the slot, so you can read it from either side.
- It also measures pull. Hook a rope or strap to it and pull to see how many kilos of force you are using.

What's in the box
- Venus PK heavy duty spring balance, 100 kg, with the top ring and bottom hook fitted

How to weigh
- Hang the balance by its top ring from a strong hook, beam or rope, or hold the ring firmly in your hand.
- Check that the pointer is at 0 with nothing on the hook.
- Hook the sack, bag or basket on the bottom hook and let it hang gently. Don't drop it on.
- Wait until the load stops swinging.
- Read the number where the top edge of the pointer meets the scale, with your eyes level with the pointer.
Weighing goods in a bag or basket
- Weigh the empty bag or basket first and note the reading.
- Weigh it again with the goods inside.
- Take the first reading away from the second to get the weight of the goods.
Keep it accurate
- Unhook the load as soon as you have read it. A spring left stretched for hours slowly gets longer and reads high.
- Never hang more than 100 kg.
- Don't let a load fall onto the hook or swing hard on it.
- Check it now and then with something you know the weight of, such as a sealed 25 kg rice or atta bag.
- Keep it dry and wipe it with a dry cloth.
- Use it between 10 °C and 40 °C.

FAQs
Questions buyers ask before choosing a heavy duty spring balance for their farm, shop or mandi.
Should I buy the 100 kg or the 150 kg model?
Buy the 100 kg model if your loads stay under 100 kg. It reads every kilo. Buy the 150 kg model only for heavier loads. It reads in 2.5 kg steps.
How do I read the weight?
Let the load hang still, then look at the number where the top edge of the pointer meets the scale. Keep your eyes level with the pointer.
Does it need a battery?
No. It works with a steel spring, so there is nothing to charge or replace.
Can I carry it with me?
Yes. It weighs about 500 g and is slim enough to fit in a bag, so you can take it to the farm, mandi or market.
How do I weigh grain in a bag without counting the bag?
Weigh the empty bag first, then the full bag, and take the first number away from the second.
The pointer is not at 0 with nothing hanging. Why?
The spring may have been left with a heavy load on it for a long time, or overloaded. Unhook loads after reading. If it stays off 0, contact us.
Can I use it to check pulling force?
Yes. Hold the ring, pull the hook with a rope or strap, and the scale shows the pull in kilos.
