Which capacity of mechanical hanging scale should you buy?
A bigger model reads in bigger steps, so don't buy far more capacity than you need. Choose the model just above your heaviest regular load.
- Weighing 30 kg feed sacks? The 50 kg model shows them in 200 g steps. The 100 kg model would show the same sack in 500 g steps.
- Weighing fish or vegetables by the kilo? The 25 kg model reads every 100 g, which is close enough for small sales.
- Weighing fertiliser bags two at a time, or a full bag of scrap? Take the 100 kg or 200 kg model.
This 25 kg model reads in 100 g steps and is best for Fish, chicken, vegetables.
Analog or digital: which suits you?
- An analog scale needs no battery, so it keeps working in the field, in a power cut and far from a charger.
- It has no electronics to fail after a knock, dust or a splash.
- A digital scale reads finer and is easier for some people to read. With a dial, read the needle straight on at eye level, because reading from the side shifts it.
If you weigh outdoors every day and want nothing to charge or replace, analog is the simpler choice.

What's in the box
- Venus CHS 25 kg mechanical hanging scale
- 2 chrome-plated S-hooks

How to weigh
- Hang the scale from a strong hook, beam or rope, using the top hook or one of the S-hooks.
- If you weigh in a bag, crate or basket, hang it empty on the bottom hook first.
- Turn the knob on top until the needle points to 0. The empty bag or crate is now left out of the reading.
- Hang the load gently. Don't drop it on.
- Wait until the load and the needle stop moving, then read the dial straight on, at eye level.
Check that it reads right
- Set the needle to 0 with nothing hanging.
- Hang something whose weight you know, such as a sealed 5 kg atta or rice packet.
- Then try a second known weight. If both readings are right, the scale is right across the dial.
Keep the spring accurate
- Take the load off as soon as you have read the weight. A spring left under load for hours slowly stretches and starts to read wrong.
- Store the scale hanging, with nothing on the hook.
- Never hang more than 25 kg.
- Don't weigh a swinging load or drop a load onto the hook.
- If the needle won't come back to 0 even after you turn the knob, the spring may be worn. Contact us.
- Keep it dry, and wipe the cover with a soft cloth.
- Use it between 10 °C and 40 °C.

FAQs
Questions buyers ask before choosing a mechanical hanging scale for their farm, shop, mandi or godown.
Which model should I buy?
Choose the one just above your heaviest regular load. 25 kg reads every 100 g and suits fish, chicken and vegetables. 50 kg reads every 200 g and suits grain sacks, farm produce and goats. 100 kg reads every 500 g and suits fertiliser bags, cotton and scrap. 200 kg reads every 1 kg and suits heavy bales and godown loads.
Why does the reading change when the load moves?
A spring scale reads the pull on its spring, so a swinging or bouncing load pulls harder for a moment. Let the load hang still for a second or two before you read.
How can I check that the scale is correct?
Set the needle to 0 with nothing on the hook, then hang something of known weight, such as a sealed 5 kg atta packet. Try a second known weight too. If both read right, the scale is right.
The needle doesn't come back to 0. What should I do?
Turn the knob on top to bring it back to 0. If it still won't stay at 0, the spring may be worn. Contact us and we will help.
Can I leave a load hanging on it overnight?
No. Take the load off after weighing. A spring kept under load for long periods slowly stretches and then reads wrong. Store the scale hanging empty.
Is an analog scale less accurate than a digital one?
It reads in bigger steps: 100 g to 1 kg depending on the model. In return it needs no battery and has no electronics to fail after a knock or splash. Read the needle straight on for the best result.
Can I use it to weigh tea leaves or produce picked by workers?
Yes. The 25 kg or 50 kg model suits baskets and bags of picked leaf or produce. Hang the empty basket, set the needle to 0, then weigh. The big dial lets the worker see the reading too.
Does it need batteries or electricity?
No. It works with a spring and a dial, so it runs anywhere, even far from power.
Is this the baby weighing scale?
No. This scale is for weighing goods. For babies, look for our Venus CHS-25 manual circular baby hanging scale, which comes with a weighing sling.
