Need help?

In this section, you can address some common questions efficiently for our ICDS-MBS-KS-810.

Can I weigh both mother and baby on this scale?

Yes. Use the curved tray to weigh babies, and remove it to weigh mothers or adults up to 100 kg.

How accurate is it, and what if my baby keeps moving or I use a blanket?

It reads in 10 g steps, which is precise enough to track a newborn’s weight gain. If the baby wriggles, press LOCK to freeze the reading on the display. If you’re using a blanket or towel, place it on the tray first and press O/TARE, so the scale shows only the baby’s weight.

Can it measure my baby’s length too?

Yes. A 600 mm length scale is printed along the tray, so you can read the baby’s length while they lie on it and record weight and length together. For more precise length readings, use our infantometer.

How often should I weigh my baby at home?

A common guide is about once every 2 to 4 weeks up to 6 months, every 2 months from 6 to 12 months, and every 3 months after that. Weigh more often only if your doctor advises it. Watching the overall trend matters more than any single reading.

Is it normal for a newborn to lose weight after birth?

Yes. Newborns may lose an average of 7–8% of their birth weight in the first few days and usually regain it by about 10–14 days of age. If your baby keeps losing weight or gains very slowly, speak to your paediatrician.

Why does my baby’s weight change each time I weigh them?

Small changes are normal. A feed, a wet or dirty nappy, or clothing can easily add or remove 50–200 g. For consistent readings, weigh your baby without clothes, at the same time of day, and always either before or after a feed.
